Civil Engineer

A local civil engineering firm located in Everett, WA has an immediate opening for a Civil Engineer. Qualified candidate will participate in all stages of project development including presentations and client meetings, fieldwork, conducting engineering analyses, and the preparation of construction documents and technical reports in many of the following areas: site layouts, grading, drainage, stormwater modeling, fish-passable design, water, sewer, feasibility analysis, erosion and sediment control, and other related design and project management activities. You will be working with civil engineers/designers specializing in residential and commercial land development projects as well as mixed-use, public works, utilities, and drainage. Will perform complex assignments exercising judgement in evaluation, selection, and modification of standard engineering techniques and procedures.

 

Will develop and manage project teams to provide civil engineering solutions and create land development plans for our commercial, manufacturing, institutional, and energy clients.

 

From stormwater, water/wastewater, institutional development, and commercial retail development, you'll take part in managing projects, reviewing work products, quality control, client interfacing, budgeting, and mentoring and supervising junior engineers.

 

General Responsibilities:

·  Supporting engineering staff in the preparation of construction documents, design of site and infrastructure improvements            including grading, utilities, erosion control, stormwater management and assisting in the preparation of reports

·  Prepare engineering related calculations and develop drawings and visual aids.

·  Perform assignments requiring application of standard techniques, procedures and criteria to carry out engineering tasks

·  Coordination with outside consultants, government agencies to obtain design information and approvals

·  Perform other duties as directed

·  Conduct field assessments and inspections to plan and execute project goals.

·  Provide expertise for design considerations, as well as evaluating site-specific needs.

·  Manage and advise staff in construction, operations and maintenance projects.

·  Present reports on proposals, new techniques, environmental impacts, right of way, etc.

·  Plan and prepare preliminary layouts and detailed design drawings from engineering notes, sketches, and/or other drawings,        ensuring they meet company and industry standards and codes

·  Interpret engineering redlines and make corrections/changes to electronic drawing files

·  Manage and organize electronic project files including ones received from multiple outside consultants

·  Work closely with other Designers, Engineers, and Project Managers to develop designs, construction documents, and ensure        coordination design effort is maintained

·  Coordinate production work to assembly civil plan sets

·  Minimal administrative work including but not limited to project filing, research standards, etc.

·  Participate in preparing proposals and project scope, schedule, and budge

·  Assist in assigning duties and schedule to team members

·  Plan and coordinate projects

Qualifications Required:

·  B.S. in Civil Engineering

·  Minimum 1 year experience or applicable internship in land/site development

·  Active PE License in WA or the ability to obtain within 1-2 year of employment.

·  Experience planning, organizing and overseeing civil engineering projects for diverse market sectors

·  Experience in Stormwater Modeling

·  Ability to provide technical expertise and mentoring to staff and managers on the civil engineering practice

·  Proficient in Civil3D

·  2-3+ years in Civil Engineer role

·   Ability to read and interpret legal documents such as State Statutes, Code of General Ordinances and zoning ordinance.

·  Ability to effectively plan time commitments on multiple concurrent projects

·  Self-motivated individual with strong communication and organizational skills

·  Must be able to work efficiently and cooperatively with others in a fast-paced team environment on a variety of different types    of projects

·  Proficiency with Microsoft Windows and Office

·  Must have work authorization in the U.S.

·  A valid Washington state driver’s license

 

Preferred Qualifications:

·  Knowledge of Civil 3D and InRoads, PondPack, HydroCad, HEC-RAS, WaterCad, XPSWMM, WinSLANM, StormCad, Microstation      and GIS a plus

·  Knowledge of site-related design

·  Knowledge of Water Crossing Design Guidelines published by the Washington State Department of Fish and Wildlife

·  Ability to apply civil engineering concept to problem solving site design issues

·  Experience in residential and commercial land development projects

·   Experience with design and preparation of detailed plans and specifications for infrastructure projects

·   Ability to work collaboratively in a creative environment
