SDA was the Drainage, Utility, TESC, and Stream Restoration Leads responsible for design of $8 million of project improvements. SDA's role required interaction and coordination with discipline leads from roadway, MOT, structures, ITS, electrical and landscape. SDA's responsibilities also required independent interaction with WSDOT and City of Bellevue staff. The design elements under SDA's supervision were in the critical path to meeting an aggressive project schedule. Our ability to see the larger picture, anticipating needs and integrating critical design elements, allowed the contractor to deliver a quality project safely, on schedule, and with minimized impacts to the travelling public and local businesses. Design and management responsibilities include: stormwater system design and documentation, utility relocation design and permitting, TESC design and implementation, NPDES permit coordination, stream mitigation design, right-of-way and easement research, design logisitics, construction phasing, design quality control and interdisciplinary and interagency coordination. SDA's staff creativity, understanding of design requirements, and ability to clearly communicate concepts and detailed design allowed for several betterments during the design process. These improvements saved over $1 million in drainage construction cost out of a total of $4 million budgeted.
